Day 11 - Why The New Method Works + Found The Perfect Coffee Machine

Day 11 - Why The New Method Works + Found The Perfect Coffee Machine

Another day accomplished. Day 2 of the new method is working great! More on that later, but today I wanna talk about how I was able to fix my regular 3 PM crash!

I've been having these for a long time and have always assumed it had to do with some biological clock thing, but I'm starting to think it might actually have to do with my coffee intake.

(I was going to talk about how my food habits have changed too, but I'll save it for another post)

Let's Talk About Coffee

I got this espresso machine almost 3 years ago, and when I tell you I've made one nearly every day I'm not kidding. Here are some of the highlights:

I love making it every morning. It's part of my routine, it feels like both being creative as well as making something practical and useful. But let me tell you why it doesn't work for dedicated:

1) It's only great if drank soon after making it

2) It's time-consuming to make (at least 15 minutes)

3) It's a large amount of caffeine over a small amount of time.

I didn't realize how much these things actually affected me 'til I began to use this coffee machine from my friend.

Cost: $150

Let me tell you, this thing is amazing. Here's why:

1) It only takes a minute to set up
2) You get a large pot of coffee at the end of it
3) It keeps the coffee warm for a long time
4) It tastes SO GOOD
5) And above all else.... 👇

The main reason why I love it is that I can perfectly cater the amount of caffeination I need.

The issue I ran into before was that I was getting a lot of caffeine at the beginning of the day, and it would taper down pretty quickly by the time I was past lunch. To make another coffee was to take another 10-20 minutes making a coffee, which just doesn't make sense.

But now, I have this large pot that I can make in the morning. I can pour a small cup to start the day, and drink more as I feel tired. This way, I can avoid the jitters of being over-caffeinated and the tiredness from being under.

If you're in a similar predicament or are thinking of getting a new coffee machine,
I highly recommend it.

Let's Talk About The New Study Technique

Okay, Day 2 went great!

I was able to use the Pomodoro method again and got through 6 sessions when I began to feel like I was wavering. But remember when I said yesterday about making it past 5 hours? Well, I did today and... I just called it.

Five hours of very productive time was good enough for me. I ended up leaving the library by 6 PM. I took time to make a nice dinner and chat with my roommate. I wasn't even monitoring the clock like I talked about in this other post.

It honestly felt great.

Why I think it works:

I think the reason this is working is because I feel better making my time be productive, than gauging productivity on tasks accomplished. Essentially, I have all day to come up with at least 5 very productive hours.

I'm sure it will need some adjusting as things change, but this is what I'm going to stick to from here on out.

'Til next time my friend, good luck. ✌️
