What Is A Part-Time Medic

What Is A Part-Time Medic

Background:

For the longest time I was stuck trying to figure out the “right” career to take with my life. I seemed to enjoy a lot of things from multiple careers but every one of them had pros and cons.

Books that I read in pursuit of finding my goal turned me towards the idea called Ikigai, you might have seen it represented by this:

In the process of trying to find my Ikigai, I had a thought:

💡
Why do I have to choose one?

Where does it say that if you become a doctor, you can’t also be a photographer? A teacher?

My Solution:

I realized instead of finding one thing to satisfy all I want to do with my life, I can pull the things I want from different roles.

That’s how I arrived at being a “Part-Time Medic”. It's not the conventional meaning of a part-time worker, it means that I can recognize medicine will offer me only a portion of what I want in life. I can have other things in my life to fill the remaining circles.

It also means that there are other roles in my life that require the same importance.

Reminding myself I’m just a “part-time medic” helps remind me to prioritize those roles as well.

If you’ve read this far, thank you, I appreciate you. :)
